The eminent revolutionary poet Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi

Bharathy in Ravi Verma's* hands

Raja Ravi Verma was a famous Indian painter. His paintings are famous even today - especially the ones on Goddesses - you can find in most of the Hindu homes in India (we have one on Goddess Saraswathi). Although Ravi Verma has painted so many on varied subjects, the ones on Bharathy are quite different - painting to reflect the thoughts of Bharathy's poems.

I read long ago on a Tamil Magazine that Ravi Verma had painted Bharathy for his poem - "Kaani Nilam Venum" - a very rare picture to get. I had a copy of that but I lost it somehow. If someone has, and willing to send, I will be happy to put that on our website and include your name.

The picture aside is another wonder from Ravi Verma on Bharathy. I am trying to understand the situation/song behind this painting.

* Raja Ravi Verma was a famous painter from Travancore, Kerala, India
* Subramanya Bharathy, also known as Mahakavi, was a famous Indian poet of yesteryears.
